A Finnish Sauna on a Rooftop: Winter Oasis with a View

Up above the gardens of the roof of Queen Elizabeth Hall, situated on the Southbank of London, the Finnish sauna is THE winter rooftop to take in the view….in (nearly) your birthday suit.

Installed by the Southbank Centre for their Nordic festival, the wooden cabin offers 16 people the chance to shiver with pleasure for 70 minutes while admiring the City (nearly) nude. Equipped with two powerful stoves, the hot, dry steam can heat up to 90°C. In case it gets too hot, head to the terrace where buckets of ice water allow you to refresh yourself.

Questions about the sauna? An expert is there to help out all the “nudists” to explain the benefits of löyly, the steam created when you throw water on burning stones.

And for little or big thirsts during or after the session, the rooftop bar offers Prosecco, hot drinks and Nordin snacks to eat in your swimsuit or under a warm blanket.

Prices: £15, £20, £25 + £2.50 booking fee for non-members of Southbank Centre
