Hackney Walk: Luxury Brands at Amazing Prices

Great prices on luxury goods in Londontown? Usually you have to trek at least an hour outside the city to a huge mall to get outlet prices. But we’ve got a tip for you- head over to Hackney Walk for a great day of shopping, at amazing prices.

Hoping to become London’s first luxury outlet, Hackney Walk includes nearly a dozen luxury fashion brands, right in the heart of Hackney. The shops are centered around archways under the railway that have been turned into retail spaces along with a few stand alone warehouses nearby. Brands include: Burberry (on the site of its original factory!), Brit bag designer Anya Hindmarch, Aquascutum, Pringle of Scotland, Matchesfashion.com, Joseph, concept store Present, Nicole Farhi, Zadig & Voltaire and more.

What’s the deal? Up to 70% off retail prices. These are not tacky, overrun stores, but chic shops, set up almost as nicely as their regular boutiques. A great way to add some investment pieces to your wardrobe without the retail usual prices.

At the Burberry outlet, staff were super friendly and helpful in finding us a classic trench coat, even checking sizes in the stockroom- and it was about ⅓ off the retail price of a similar model. Be forewarned: smaller sizes are less available, due to the throngs of tourists who snap them up! Medium to larger sizes have a huge selection, and you can nab a Burberry mac in nearly any colour of the rainbow.

From time to time, Hackney Walk’s sister site, a showroom called The Box, holds sample sales (Liberty, etc), so be sure to sign up for their newsletter to be informed.

Top tip: Make a day of it with a friend. Pop into Brew for Two (101 Morning Lane, E9 6ND) for a yummy breakfast or a power lunch in their lovely garden, to fuel up for more shopping.

Most stores open Monday to Saturday 10 am-6 pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. Some individual retailer hours may vary, so check before going.
