The Sun of Camberwell: A Relaxed Pub

Situated on Coldharbour Lane, not far from the buzzy Camberwell Green and Loughborough Junction, this neighbourhood institution shines with its bright yellow facade.  You enter with the promise of taking a break in the summer sun, a warm glow in winter.  Equipped with a large terrace in the front and a huge garden in the back, the place is ideal for an apperatif when the weather turns nice.  In the winter season, we take advantage of the large dining room with a huge bar where local and regional beers are served along with artisanal drinks and single malt whiskies.

The Sun also serves up an international wine selection, with a good stock of French wine, and elixirs that you can drink along with British dishes prepared with seasonal products.  We tested a fish fillet with mash and little veg, that were all perfectly cooked and seasoned.

Let's go: as a couple, as a family for the Sunday roast, or with friends for a drink.  Between the tabels for two, huge long tables, and the cozy nook with club chairs and sofas around the chimeny, everyone has his place around the sun.

We love: the open kitchen that let's you peek into the ballet of the plates and the ambiance around the ovens; the decor, a mix of bric and brac; the festive feeling that starts from Wednesday night with a musical quiz; local groups take over on Thursdays and Fridays there is a DJ.  No matter what day, you week will be less boring with a stop at The Sun.

The little extra: a private room in the garden, which is available for private hire.

Open Monday 4pm- 11pm, Tuesday- Thursday 4pm- 12pm, Friday and Saturday 12pm- 1am, Sunday 12pm- 11pm
