Chic Drinks at the Matthew Williamson Designed Courtyard

We just love knowing a secret terrace that will surprise all of our friends, don’t you? The newest chic terrace is hidden in Blakes Hotel in South Kensington, a little gem waiting to be discovered at this iconic boutique hotel.

Tucked away between the hotel and the mews house in the rear of the building, the courtyard, newly redesigned by Matthew Williamson, is a garden oasis in the middle of Kensington. Colourful and charming, it is a great spot for a girly lunch or evening drinks on a sunny evening.

Colourful murals in blues, greys and bright yellow along with an IG-worthy tile floor are set off with oversized plants by master of prints, Williamson. The tumbling floral wall, designed specifically with flowers that are highly scented, completes the scene.

An early start? Pop by for breakfast in the sun. Try the chia seed and coconut cream pudding with banana, mango and cashew nuts (£12), or the new classic, avocado on toast, this one with chili and cress with poached eggs on sourdough (£9).

Cocktail hour? Try one of the signature drinks, like the Roland Garden (gin, kaffir lime leaves, lavender syrup, bitters, champagne, £13) or the Love Pancakes (Buffalo Trace, lemon, maple syrup, blackberry puree, egg white and bitters, £12), a fun choice with maple syrup.

Opens 1 May 2017 for the summer season. Open everyday from 8am-8pm.
