Artist Residence: The Art of Staying Differently

Don’t trust the shopfront of this restaurant- on the upper floors of this pretty Georgian building are ten bedrooms. The Artist Residence of Pimlico, whose sister hotel is on the seaside in Brighton, features rooms with decoration conceived by artists. The art-loving owners have made their hotel a space for creative urban, graphic, and street art expression.

A mix of materials and styles, both vintage and modern, are featured and each of the rooms have a different decor.  The main theme is a cocoon atmosphere, chic and stylish, where can chill after exploring the city.

And the restaurant? The menu at Cambridge Street offers modern European cooking, without a bad dish or extra frills. As proof, check out the locals who come on a regular basis for breakfast or dinner.

The little details that make it special? The lower ground floor, transformed into a cocktail bar with brick walls, the tin-tiled ceiling, red leather stools and dark lighting that gives you a speakeasy ambiance.

At the head of the bar, Warren Deroche, whose passion for mixology has led the bar to offer bespoke cocktails. Still not tired? Nextdoor to the bar, check out the ping pong table and sofas around the chimney (to watch your friends play).

Rooms from £180 for a small room to £420 for the suite
